Hello everyone!
My name is Casey L. Jones and I am from Houston, TX. I currently have received a law degree and have worked as a Litigation, Personal Injury, and Intellectual Property paralegal, but my true passion is art and design.
I've been designing websites 6 years and I've tinkered with graphic design for going on 8 years. I love everything about design and often do it even in my spare time. Most of my design skills are self-taught from researching techniques, completing tutorials and reading source code from websites I've admired.
Because I value education very highly I have decided to enroll in the Art Institute's Interactive Media and Web Design program. I will be completing my Bachelors degree in the near future and plan to enroll in Graduate School to obtain my Master's of Science in Educational Technology. My ultimate goal is to teach design within the college level.
I am currently teaching a few people privately in web design and development so I am happy to get adult teaching experience under my belt. I have previously taught special education in the elementary school level and can safely say that teaching mentally challenged children basic fundamentals is just as rewarding as teaching adults a trade to assist in a career change.
I am also the manager over at the world famous FreelanceSwitch Creative Community of over 700 creative professionals. FreelanceSwitch is owned and operated by Envato, formerly Eden Creative Communities, out of Sydney, Australia. Come visit us at http://forums.freelanceswitch.com.
I do a bit of photography and a very small sample of my photographs can be seen at http://www.cljphotography.com. My photos can be purchased as stock at http://www.dreamstime.com/
My personal website can be found at http://www.caseyjones.cc.
I have a few "pet projects" that I fiddle around with quite often. One is an educational game series for children ages 5-18. I'm also forming a Design Union of sorts called "Hire American Designers" in order to persuade businesses to keep work here in America. Also, I'm in the midst of creating a designer's dictionary of sorts called "Design Lexicon." And lastly, I'm in the midst of developing the website for a design community called "The Creative Christian."
I've been developing for the web for several years now and am still learning new tricks of the trade. That is the wonderful thing about web design and development; you always have something to learn. I love to help new designers hone their skills and develop their craft.
When I'm not working or studying I enjoy reading a lot and writing my own stories. I am currently working on a horror novel when/if I have spare time. I also enjoy traveling, visiting old cemeteries for awesome photo ops and antiquing throughout the small Texas towns.
I can speak enough foreign languages to officially label myself as a tourist in other countries and more than likely get me arrested in a small border town! ;-) I can speak quite a bit of French, Spanish, Italian, Hebrew and Greek and am currently beginning to teach myself some Arabic and Latin.
Programming languages I am much more fluent in are CFML, XML, JavaScript, ActionScript, Lingo, SQL, CSS, HTML, xhtml, PHP, & ASP. Needless to say, I'm fluent in geek speak!
I have 2 cats: Miss Prissy Pants and Pyrite; 4 dogs: Lolli- black lab, Peachey Pooh- Corgi, Asia Marie - very needy boxer brat and China - American Pit Bull Terrier. I also have a male Siamese Fighting Fish (Betta) named Perry von Winklestein and we happen to have another aquarium full of fish.
On a personal note, I have a really great boyfriend, Devon, who I adore and am supporting as he finishes his Chiropractic degree. I plan to use and abuse his degree when he graduates!
During an Interactive Authoring course at the Art Institute I was teamed up with two remarkable women, Rebecca Drennen and Deborah Mauldin. Over the period of the following months the three of us became close and decided to start a web design firm, Damsels in Design, which we will begin developing soon.
Prior to this decision, however, Deborah came to me with her own proposition. Out of the three of us I was the only one currently working as a professional web designer and Deborah sought to tap into my real world experience by proposing to become my intern.
After nine years of serving on active duty in the United States Marine Corps, Deborah has retrained herself as a web and interactive media designer and developer. I enjoy working with Deborah very much. She is quite a talented up and coming designer and I'm enjoying watching her abilities blossom. I hope I'm benefiting her transition into the design world. Check out Deborah's website here.

This is my sweet little Boxer baby girl, Asia Marie. Asia Marie is pretty much my daughter in every sense of the word. She sure knows how to make you smile and is a constant companion. She's extremely loving and affectionate and always the life of the party. If you don't know much about Boxers I highly recommend reading up on this intelligent and wonderful breed.

This is my little nephew Seth Michael. Seth lives with me and my family and he sure knows how to keep me on my toes! He's a very rambunctious and intelligent little boy who holds my heart in his sticky little hands. Nothing is more fun that watching Seth and my Boxer, Asia Marie, play together. I swear you would think they were siblings!
